What is Managed Hosting for VPS's?
Managed Hosting is essentially a service offered by Webdev that takes the technical knowledge required to operate and maintain an internet facing server out of the hands of you, our customer, and makes it Webdev’s responsibility. Managed hosting services only include management of the VPS server itself, and not the website or web application running on the server. Managed hosting services are offered for both Linux and Microsoft OS based VPS products.
With managed hosting, Webdev installs the Operating System, installs the systems necessary to run a web server and database server (for Linux based VPS’s, its known as the LAMP stack or Linux - Apache, Mysql and PHP Stack as a technical term). We also undertake the updating of the server, securing the server against unauthorised server logins, installation and configuration of a server based firewall for additional protection against server access via ports. We also monitor your site on the VPS to ensure minimal downtime from the server side management.
